I had intended to include Aulë for symmetry's sake, but Real World complications have been getting in the way of the Winter Project (like a backache that refused to go away for a week and made working at the computer... well, painful for long stretches). I intend to continue to post the other clothing and objects in the Winter Theme as I have them finished, but because Yavanna's outfit was so deliberately "Christmasy," I wanted to have it posted before the 25th. Merry Christmas, Good Yule, and Happy Holidays!

One little detail I wanted to point out: Yavanna's hair decorations are the same meshes that I used with her formal gown, but with holly leaves rather than golden leaves. The effect is most noticeable in the pin at the back of her head.

Being incarnate only through an act of their own wills, it's unlikely that the Ainur in general were very sensitive to extremes of heat and cold -- just look at how resistent the Elves were to such things! But even though the king and queen of all Arda lived in Ilmarin, atop the summit of the highest mountain in the world (so high, Tolkien drew it as poking far above the clouds and into the heavens themselves), we know that the Vanyar Elves lived on the slopes of Taniquetil, and that some (most notably Ingwë, the king of the Vanyar) lived in Ilmarin itself, it seems reasonable that if the Elves felt the chill when the snow flew atop the mountain (which must've been considerably colder than an ordinary snow in the world below), the notoriously sensitive Manwë would have made concessions for their sake. Can't imagine it would do much for morale if freezing Elves had to see perfectly comfortable Ainur trotting about in summer clothing. And I can well imagine that Varda would have done the same.

The buyable versions will work only if you have Sims Vacation installed, and then only if you install the files into the Expansion Shared folder. The Regular versions should be installed in the GameData/Skins folder.

Just a side note: the background image for the picture on the right is my sister's backyard. It snowed yesterday, first snow of the season, and it made a lovely backdrop for these pictures.

Against all expectations, my Muse and Real Life decided to cooperate and give me enough time and energy to complete the mesh and skin for Aulë's winter clothing, so that he and Yavanna can step out together in holiday style. Since I have often associated the color red with The Smith, it wasn't at all a stretch of the imagination to design him clothes in both jewel-toned ruby red and emerald green, to complement his wife's outfit. And all in time for Christmas!
