Elladan & Elrohir
the twin sons of Elrond
Elladan (in blue)
Elrohir (in green)
My Muse took a very unexpected detour with these two. What happened? When I moved Elrond into my Sim Tolkien-based neighborhood, I was in the process of cutting back on the number of community properties (too many of them, not enough decent sized lots for some of the things I wanted to do with it). What I did was divide the whole into four areas (Taniquetil up there, Lórien over here, Eldamar there, Thangorodrim there...) and gave each one of the four areas a single community center. When I demolished the lot that originally held the game-created kennel club, I realized it was both a huge lot and in a central location -- perfect for Rivendell. So I went to work building. And building. And building. And I finally realized I had poor Elrond rattling around in this HUGE house with nobody for company (Arwen has her own little house across the street, waiting for her true love to come along someday). I considered the possibility of making a Celebrían for him, but I never had a clear image of what Elrond's wife looked like -- but I did have a clear image of what his twin sons looked like, so I went with that instead. I may get around to Celebrían someday, but for now...
To the best of my knowledge, Elladan and Elrohir never appeared in Peter Jackson's movies, which is just as well, since I didn't mind doing the designs myself. What I did for their heads was used the mesh I made for Elrond as the basis, with some alterations. The jaw and cheeks are a bit wider, and rather than the long knotted hair on both sides of the face, I gave each one a single braid on one side: Elladan on the right, Elrohir on the left (they appear different on Elladan in the two pictures because I flipped the image on the left to make it work better with the page layout). The mesh for their bodies is identical, but they each have an accessory belt, one with the hanging "tail" on the right, the other on the left.. When I put them into the game and had them interact with Elrond to develop a relationship with him so that they could move into "Rivendell," I was struck by how much they do indeed look as if they might be his sons. They got along splendidly with each other, and with their father, and all three are now happily in residence in that HUGE house. It was amusing to sit them down in the Hall of Fire to tell stories and sing songs -- sure, it's "On Top of Old Smoky" in Simmish, but hey, it COULD be Elvish, couldn't it?
