Tuor was certainly not the next person on my list of planned Sim characters, but after completing Beren, his name looked so lonely all by itself on the page for The Edain, so I decided he should have at least one person for company. I considered Túrin Turambar for about ten seconds -- there's a lot about Túrin's story that reminds me of Michael Moorcock's Elric of Melnibone, depressing, depressing, despressing. So instead, since I had already completed both Eärendil and his Elven grandparents, doing his parents seemed the next most logical thing to do. But I had absolutely no mental image whatsoever for Tuor. So if he looks a little bit familiar, there's a reason: I finally got some inspiration from a photo of Johnny Depp, and used that as the basis for Tuor's facial features.

His clothing may also look somewhat familiar: the textures and some of the design were drawn from Turgon's outfit, since Tuor first came to Gondolin bearing arms and armor that Turgon had left behind in Nevrast almost 400 years earlier. I had intended to give his outfit more armorial details, but decided that I didn't want him clanking around the neighborhood any more than I wanted Sauron or other warrior types rattling about in a nice, peaceful Sim neighborhood. Leave that to the NPC "policeman."
