Thuringwethil
Vampire, Servant of Sauron in Tol-in-Gaurhoth

with wings
with cloak
plain

When I first showed images of this Sim to friends familiar with The Lord of the Rings, but not The Silmarillion, they were shocked. "She looks like a vampire!" was their immediate reaction. "Well, she IS a vampire," was my answer, which of course required an explanation. Thuringwethil herself is a fairly minor character in the story; I would dare say that she plays a less important role than her cloak, which Luthien took to use as a disguise so that she could enter Angband, seeking Beren. Her name means "woman of secret shadow," and she was no doubt a Maia, since it is said she "took the form" of a great bat, the wings of which were tipped with terrible iron claws. What I attempted here was a combination of bat and woman, since it would be rather tough to play a Sim who is literally a bat, and like her master Sauron, I thought that in a humanoid form, she would choose to put on the semblance of beauty, to confound her foes. Getting the wings to work at all was tough enough, and I wound up skipping the iron claws part of the mesh, but I think the overall effect is quite acceptable. The red and black head band, as well as her earrings, are attached to the body mesh, so they will drop when she changes to other clothes.

Images of the cloaked and plain versions are below.
