Milo Thatch (from Atlantis: The Lost Empire)
When I decided I wanted to add a few characters from Atlantis: The Lost Empire to my Sim neighborhood, I encountered a number of odd problems. Milo was one of them. Although the game includes characters who wear glasses, not a one of them came close to resembling Milo enough to make alteration of the existing skin feasible when combining it with the glasses. Tinkering (a lot) with Face Lift and other resources, I finally managed to come up with something I feel does at least a somewhat creditable job, even if it isn't perfect. The clothes in the above picture were simple. I've been working on his Atlantean outfit, too, but while the clothing has been easy enough, getting the darned tattoo on his left arm, shoulder, and back has been proving to be quite a challenge. Given time, I'm sure I'll figure it out.
Milo's Victorian Outfit (included with "Basic Milo")
Given that he came from 1914, this wasn't a huge stretch. To make his outfit distinct from the other men in the neighborhood, I gave him a morning coat, which was actually considered a casual outfit at the time. The frock coat mesh only exists for a fit body type.
Princess Kidagakash Nedakh (from Atlantis: The Lost Empire)
Kida also proved to be something of a challenge, both in clothing and in hair. The hair is based on Threnody's longhair mesh (which, amusingly, was created for her Disney character skins). Her clothes are based on the Maxis sarong for the medium skinned woman, but getting the curve of the red and yellow stripe around the sides and back was a real trick. It's still not quite perfect, but what the heck. I'll get that figured out, too, someday. Oddly enough, Milo and Kida (who needed to be reincarnated at least four times, since problems with the system forced me to uninstall and reinstall the game several times) have always been the most successful couple in my neighborhood, in career, money, and romance. Somehow, this seems appropriate for the Queen of Atlantis and her Significant Other (and yes, the Queen now reads, very well, thank you).
Kida's Victorian Outfit (included with "Basic Kida")
I wasn't sure how she was going to look in the much more covering period gown, but I think she looks pretty spiffy. The scalloped edges and lace overlay are a scanned scrap of heavy venise lace I happened to have lying about my sewing room. The stuff's too darned expensive to throw away even the smallest bit of it, and it came in handy as a template for skinning.
Delenn (from Babylon 5)
Back when I was first populating a very large neighborhood in my game, I was looking for any names I could think of, and named a couple John and Delenn Sheridan. I don't remember what I'd originally had her look like, ut it was nothing like the Delenn from the TV series, so I decided what the heck, I should come up with something appropriate. The skin was easy, using one of Jerome's meshes. The head is a standard Sims head mesh (Mercedes), but getting the skin right to simulate the headbone was not as easy. Eventually, I intend to construct a separate mesh for the bone. Before anyone asks, I didn't do a custom skin for John Sheridan, though I believe there are some available elsewhere on the web.
Egon Spengler (ala The Real Ghostbusters)
I've been puttering with this character since I started making skins for Sims, and white I had no problem getting the actual skins right -- and even the body, using a standard mesh -- the head was the problem. The closest thing to an acceptable mesh for the weirdly exaggerated hair style devised by the animators at DiC is a mesh called "Elvis" which I believe was made by Crash for the 7 Deadly Sims. The glasses had to be added, using the same mesh I used for Milo Thatch, since I wasn't able to find anything better.
Janine Melnitz (somewhat ala The Real Ghostbusters)
If I thought finding a glasses mesh for Egon was hard, this was worse. The body mesh is one of Jerome's (indianheels), but the head mesh is another for which I have not been able to track down a source. The skins once again are mine. I gave Janine two outfits, the green and yellow with pearls being somewhat akin to the outfit the animators fell into the habit of giving her episode after episode; the white suit was designed after the outfit we see her in briefly in the episode "Ragnarok and Roll," one of her classier dresses (and one of the better episodes, too).
