"Period Friendly" Breechcloth-style Swimsuits And when I say "fit," I mean fit after the heroically fit kinds of men that were many of the male characters in Tolkien's world, especially the Ainur and Eldar of the earlier ages. The three fellows depicted in these images are Eönwë (light skin), Oromë the Hunter (medium skin), and Aulë the Smith (dark skin). All of them are depicted wearing an off-white cloth because, historically speaking, the "underwear" of earlier times was a simple length of plain cloth (usually unbleached muslin, linen, or even wool) used when support or warmth was needed, wrapped around the appropriate areas and tied off (not unlike a large diaper or "turban," in most respects). It's fairly well documented that until very recently, it was common for men to swim naked. I offer this option for the sake of players who would prefer to have their Sims in some kind of swimwear, but want a more "period" look. The breechcloth I designed here is not merely drawn onto a nude mesh base; it has three-dimensional structure and shape (the tie on the right-hand side of the body does stand away slightly from the leg, but can't be seen clearly in these pictures because of the white background). It is an integrated part of the body mesh, not an accessory. These are buyable skins and can be purchased in the downtown (or other areas that allow clothing purchases) and must be installed in the Expansion Shared/SkinsBuy folder of your game to work. Persons who would like to customize the skin to adjust color or texture may feel free to do so. Although I may eventually get around to changing the body proportions so that they can be used without seeming a bit ridiculous on less "buff" men, it's not high on my list of priorities, at the moment. But persons who have the Body Warp program and would like to take a shot at changing the proportions for their own use may do so (if you come up with something workable and want to distribute it on your own site, you're welcome to do so as long as proper source credit is given on the site and in the Read Me file with the download). |
