Ilmarë
Handmaid of Varda
Although she is said to be one of the greatest of the Maiar, we know absolutely nothing about Ilmarë, other than the fact that she was the handmaid of Varda. Either Varda is one heck of a demanding Queen, or there was something more that Ilmarë did as part of her job" that earned her such high status among the Maiar. It's possible it's simply a "rank by birth" kind of thing (since that was suited to England of the era in which Tolkien wrote his tales), but I tend to suspect it's also a holdover from the days when Tolkien considered the Maiar to be the literal children of the Valar, and Ilmarë and Eönwë were the children of Manwë and Varda -- essentially a prince and princess among the Valarindi.
To reflect her position in the household of King and Queen, I designed Ilmarë's gown in shades of blue and silver with a small starry pattern to the cloth. As we know absolutely nothing of her appearance, I chose to eschew the bright blonde or black that seemed to be favored by Tolkien, and instead went for a golden brown that I feel suits her face and complements the outfit.
