Finrod Felagund

My Muse is singularly unpredictable. I had begun working on the meshes and skins for Fingolfin, trying to finish up that branch of the family of Finwë, so who decides he wants to be done next? Finrod Felegund, who wasn't even on the slate for anything in the near future. I suspect two factors were at work in Dementia's decision: the fact that I'd done a lot of dark-haired folk of late and felt the need for a change (not merely an alteration, as was the case with Olórin), and the fact the Finrod was one of the more noted musicians among the Eldar. The harp depicted in the image at the right (which is only a prop for these pictures; it simply did not work as a prop to have the character carry in the game) is based on Tolkien's own drawing of a harp in the heraldic image for Finrod.
My choice of a background image was largely a selection based on color and texture, since Nargothrond was a kingdom built within caverns, not the best of places to watch the sunset! Finrod was the first of the Eldar to encounter the Edain, was saved by Barahir, to whom he gave the ring that was eventually handed down to Aragorn, and though he was defeated by Sauron in a duel of songs of power, while imprisoned, he saved Beren's life at the cost of his own, thus repaying the debt he owed to Beren's father. Not a shabby accomplishment for someone who really didn't have his heart in supporting Fëanor's Oath! But though he was called the king of Nargothrond, Finrod's beloved, Amarië of the Vanyar, did not follow him into exile in Middle-earth. Even so, I have started work on a Sim for her, too, just so he can have someone to keep him company (just to be fair, since I made Elenwë for Turgon). Whether or not she's the one I finish next is completely up to my crazy Muse.
