Fingolfin
First son of Finwë and Indis, father of Fingon and Turgon, King of the North

I seem to be working backwards rather than forward in time with the Elves, moving from younger to older. Don't ask me why, it's where the Muse takes me. I had intended to do Amarië next, and had started work on her, but Fëanor's half brothers decided they wanted to be done next. Pushy Noldorin Elves. Although a passage in The Silmarillion describes the banners of Fingolfin, mightiest of the sons of Finwë, as being blue and silver, the device Tolkien himself drew for Fingolfin shows a conisderable amount of yellow (or perhaps gold), so I decided to design his outfit following the inspiration of Tolkien's arms. The device itself appears somewhat like a sunburst with wavy rays; rather than copy it directly, I used a variation based on the general image for both the various trims as well as the collar and belt devices. The crown is another variation on the ones I made for Fingon, Turgon, and Gil-galad, simpler in design.

The one issue I had in creating this character was the skin for the head. No matter what I did, he kept coming out looking either completely unrelated to his own family, or remarkably like Elrond. When I finally managed to achieve an appearance that didn't look too strongly like Hugo Weaving (even more so than the skin I'd made for my Elrond Sim!), I decided to let it go. After all, Fingolfin was the the father of Turgon, the father of Idril, the mother of Eärendil, the father of Elrond, so they're not all THAT distantly related, after all.
