Eönwë
Herald of Manwë

From nearly the beginning of my "Simarillion" project, I planned to make Eönwë, the herald and banner-bearer of Manwë and mostly highly placed of the Maiar in Arda. Because it is said that his might in arms is unsurpassed by anyone in Arda (even, seemingly, Tulkas), I began designing Eönwë with a more warrior-like appearance, planning to include full arms and armor. I got as far as designing a very complex helmet for him, then stopped. Somehow, that approach simply didn't feel right, and I started again, this time focusing on the heraldic aspect -- with which I'm considerably more pleased. Eonwë's clothing has a deliberately "military dress uniform" flavor, to reflect his position as the warrior who led the forces of Valinor to the final war against Morgoth; the choice of blue was also deliberate, as a reflection of his position as the chief servant of Manwë (although I've only begun to realize that after white and gray, blue seems to be one of Tolkien's favorite colors, as far as his secondary reality is concerned). The sword belt is a variation of the one I created for Glamdring. The scabbard design, belt and belt buckle have been changed, as well as the guard and pommel tip, and, of course, the skin.
While I decided to offer a variety of combinations of the body, head, and accessories, I deliberately chose not to offer a version with the staff, sword, and cloak, simply because the sword pokes through the cloak and looks totally ridiculous. The hair is once again of a "stay-put" variety, and once again because of that, the hair down his back behind his right shoulder will poke through the cloak slightly. Happily, it isn't as obvious as the same problem with Gil-galad. There is some of the usual stay-put mesh thumbnail distortion in the game, but since it's entirely behind and to the side of his head, the face is not obscured at all.
