Elros Tar-Minyatur
Brother of Elrond Halfelven, First King of Númenor

beardless variation (head only)
The saga of this character as a Sim is very convoluted. While in the midst of working on my recolor project to add variant skintones for older characters, My best friend and my sister were visiting, both of them Simmers. We happened to be discussing our games, as well as other subjects such as music. Now, my friend and I have been working writing and developing on a fantasy novel since we were in college lo, those many years ago, and the strange conjunction of topics prompted her to mention that she envisioned one of the main characters as looking rather like the singer Josh Groban. With a sigh, she said she wished that someone would make an appropriate skin for her Sim neighborhood that she has set in our fantasy world, and for the heck of it, I took a shot at it. She was pleased with the result, and I figured I ought to find a character in my Tolkien-themed stuff that I hadn't already done who would look suitably similar, so I could post him on this site without tying my brain into knots, looking for a place to put him. As he already had human-round ears, I supposed he should be human rather than Elven, and after wracking my brain for a day or two, it occurred to me that I had neglected one of the most important human characters of all -- the brother of Elrond, the founder of Númenor, the first of the great Sea Kings from whom Aragorn was descended. The original head skin did not have a beard, and thus seemed too young to be a proper adult human Elros, but when I took a shot at giving him a touch of facial hair -- presto! I had my Elros. Definitely adult and human, but with a slight ageless quality, as befitting one of human and Elven blood.
It occurred to me after all the work was done that Elros really is more properly an Edain of the Second Age, since it was after the War of Wrath and the defeat of Melkor that the Edain were rewarded with the Land of Gift, but I hadn't yet made any part of the site for the Men of the Second Age. I supposed that I could make a new page for them, as I had for Gil-galad, Cirdan, and Celebrimbor, but it seemed rather silly, given that so far, I'd only done three Men from the Silmarillion, as opposed to the long list of Elves (which was made a teensy bit shorter by giving a few of 'em another page). I decided to put him among the Edain of the First Age, since he was born during it, and if I ever get around to making the other prominent Men of the Second Age -- Elendil, Isildur, Valandil, and some of the prominent Númenorean kings and queens -- then I'll move him there.
